WHARFINGER'S PRESS

wharf /(h)wôrf/ a level quayside area to which a vessel may be moored to load and unload.

wharf·in·ger /ˈ(h)wôrfənjər/ an owner or keeper of a wharf.

Wharfinger’s Press is an independent publishing house that carries the vibe and esthetic of the historic Port Haney Wharf, which hangs over The Mighty Fraser River and boast views of The Golden Ears Mountains to the North, as well as Mount Baker and Mount Rainier across the Unites States’ border. Sturgeon swim within the river’s depths while eagles soar calmly overhead, and thoughts are encouraged with each whistlerumble of a passing train. The aim of WP is to provide a platform for both unique Canadian voices, and writers abroad. We prefer the outsiders, outliers, misfits, rebels, under-privileged and under-represented.

BIRD DROPPINGS

Every bird has a story.

Have you ever watched a Crow eat crackers? Have you seen a Quail's topknot bounce around while it runs? Have you considered what the life of a headless Chicken is like?

I have.

I enjoy letting the beauty of Orioles, Ducks, and Kingfishers streak colours across my mind. I like to indulge in questioning the existence of Thunderbirds or the extinction of the Dodo.

It's not often you hear these tales, considering few birds can speak (and the rest shouldn't) but this is where I come in. I've considered getting drunk with Zebra Finches, contemplated what Flamingo meat might taste like, and wondered if I could train Pileated Woodpeckers to kill for me.

THE FIENDING OF THE MASSES: VOTE BOB

Vote Bob follows a random group of twenty-something-good-for-nothings with little or no motivation in life. Indulging heavily in their vices to ease the days without any plans for the future beyond trying to survive through it. Struggling within an environment which they falsely believe has dealt them a bad hand, and a self-defeating mindset that encourages their negativity. Their attempts to avoid reality have no effect on the fact that reality is moving full steam around them. An election is about to take place, and a mystery candidate under the guise of 'Bob' is in the running. Whether they like it or not, they'll eventually have to get involved in what is going on. Life has a way of doing that. Rife with swearing, drinking, crime, swearing and violence. Void of love interests, sex, heroes or vampires. You probably won't like this book.
